I am sure before much longer "This Generation" will signify those who see the events of this October. We all know its The kingdom's anniversary and Jesus is sure to put on one celestial shindig! Don't hold your breath. I just dont know why people care about this subject, its like debating whether unicorns live in candy houses or on a cloud. Move on.

This Generation.
by objectivetruth inmatthew 1:1 is called "the book of the generation" - everything in matthew refers to this same generation.. similar terminology can be seen in genesis 5:1 " this is the book of the generations of adam.
when god created man, he made him in the likeness of god.
" all of the descendants mentioned in genesis 5 cover a time period of 1656 years.. another example of this type of generation, reference can be seen in genesis 37 "v.2 these are the generations of jacob.".

I was a door-to-door magazine salesman...but I didnt know it!
by Londo111 inboth jws and former jws dont seem to remember that up until 1990, jws sold magazines, books, and brochures from door to door.
you went to either the magazine or the literature counter and bought publications that you were going to sell.
pioneers would get a slight discount.

I stopped asking for money years before they decided to change to the "voluntary donation arrangement". I felt like a magazine salesman and was never comfortable. One CO even said that most publishers presentation of the "Live Forever" book went like this, "Big red book, pretty red book, $1.00 book, want one?" Ew.

Looking Back, Are You Embarrassed By Your Attitudes, Speech, Actions as a JW?
by minimus ini think of how judgmental we were as witnesses.
"worldly ones" were almost as bad as disfellowshipped ones but not as bad as "apostates"..

Another night, another JW dream
by MrMonroe insuch a ripoff when you dream you're back at the damn meetings.
i once dreamed a local (rather liberal-minded) elder, jack hoogendoorn, was smoking a cigar while he was giving a talk on the platform.. last night i was back there again: one elder who suddenly decided he was going to be "encouraging" gave me the latest stats on baptisms, while someone else i was meant to go witnessing with was not-so-subtly probing me about how many magazines i'd been placing lately.
i chose not to tell them i had decided against placing mags any more.

I had a dream last night, oddly enough, and there was a "car group" coming to our house. My dad said, "oh great, here they are". I said, "no problem I'll handle it." They came to the door and clearly were new in the cong cause I hadn't seen them before. They started in on how selfish people are and not caring about others. I countered with, "well, I have found that most people I dealt with in business were actually very supportive and kind." Then they went on the bash the world in general. I countered with, "I think that society goes through cycles just like people do. Its immature and harsh when a new generation starts to take over and kinder when they get some life experience. It has always been that way." They were not happy and left. Now that's a dream come true!

Did anyone mention that they lost a lawsuit over molestation for millions? Like 28 million or so to Candace Conti? Check it out. Can't believe no one mentioned it.

The Governing Body told two Elders to call !!!!
by Phizzy ina friend from the other end of the country just 'phoned and told me that a couple of days ago two elders knocked on his door.
he has been out for four or more years.. they told him it was c.o's visit, and the governing body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the k.hall.. i guess this is an easier "field" than knocking on doors that never open, or where they are told "not interested".. my friend bill though, was not such an easy call.
apparently he managed to get in about 1914 being rubbish, the bible not being the word of god, because we cannot trust it, 1919 being rubbish as to the choosing of the fds and several other telling points.. i liked particularly that he said to them they were rather hypocritical asking householders to examine their faith, when jw's were simply not allowed to !.

Any Suggestions on what to say if elders ask why you stopped going in FS?
by BU2B ini was curious what might be some good things to say if i am questioned by the elduurs about my decline in fs.
anything too honest may get me a jc (although that would be for the best in the end..) the co visit is this week so they may be getting more agressive than usual.

Use their own strategy. Pad your time, it doesn't mean anything anyway and it will get them off your back. Eventually make them call you for your time in six months and just dont be available. I assume you are missing meetings like a good little preapostate. Just say you are doing more informal witnessing due to a busy schedule, they will back off, then gradually let it go down an hour a month or so and then skip a month in three months. Just let it flow. This will get them off your back so you become lousy association and people leave you alone, they sure as hell wont try to help you. Otherwise tell them to shove it if you like. Man I hate that feeling of having these self appointed saviors on your ass.
